The George W. Bush rejected any possibility that the 15 British sailors in the Iranian captivity, can be exchanged for the five detainees in Iraq Iranians. This statement, as reported by AFP on Friday by the official spokesman of the U.S. State Department Sean McCormack.
Recall that the Britons were arrested on charges of border violations by the Iranian sailors on March 23 at a river site Iraq border. Britain rejects the charges and calls for the release of captured documents.
Shortly after the incident began observers that Tehran hosted a British hostage only to secure the release of five members of its mission in Iraq. They were arrested by the United States military in Erbil in January this year on suspicion of terrorism.
Sean McCormack asked not to attempt to establish a link between the two incidents. In addition, the American official demanded the immediate release of the British military, saying that the conflict still can be solved through diplomatic means.
A request to release the British joined the European Union, and the Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Alexander Yakovenko called on the United Nations to prepare an independent report on the circumstances surrounding the incident with the detention of British sailors.
